A Rural Escape
Situated in the village of Chaignepain between the market towns of Chef-Boutonne, Melle and Sauzé-Vaussais. The village is perfectly placed to provide the peace and tranquility of rural France and easy access to a wealth of local attractions and amenities. Surrounded by fields of corn and sunflowers Chaignepain is the perfect place to explore the charms of Poitou Charentes.
Our beautiful gîtes converted from ancient goat houses dating back to 1803, they are full of rustic charm while providing every comfort you would wish for in a home away from home. There are 5 gîtes sleeping 8, 6, 5, 4 and 3 which can be booked individually or in any combination. Group bookings with sole use of the facilities will be considered – please contact us for more details.
From October to April the gîtes are available for long term winter letting for a minimum of two months, please contact us for more information and pricing.
There is a fantastic heated, fully tiled, safety fenced swimming pool 10 x 5 metres with plenty of sun loungers, parasols and inflatables. The fully enclosed garden contains children’s swings and a slide, a wendy house, outdoor table tennis and there is also a games room with air hockey & table football as well as bookshelves with books, board games and DVDs. We a selection of bikes including child sizes & safety helmets.
Our Gites
Each gite has a fitted kitchen, fully stocked with all crockery, cutlery, glassware etc. There is a kettle, microwave, toaster, fridge/freezer and full normal size gas oven and hob. Each gite has satellite TV so you can watch all the normal UK channels or if you prefer you can watch French TV. DVD Players are provided and good WiFi is available. Each gite has its own lounge and dining area inside as well as an outdoor dining terrace with patio furniture and BBQ.
All bedrooms have shelves and hanging rails, all bedding & towels are provided free of charge including pool towels. Cots, highchairs and safety gates are available on request. Unfortunately we are not able to accept pets unless by prior arrangement and only in low season October –April.
We have a communal laundry room with washing machines and ironing equipment and a communal bathroom with a bath if you prefer this to a shower. We include a welcome pack with the basics and offer an honesty bar in the games room with chilled refreshements available. If you require a bigger shop prior to your arrival this can be arranged upon request.
This 4 bedroom gite has an outside patio area with garden furniture and a large gas BBQ. You enter into the large dining kitchen with all amenities including American fridge/freezer, full size dishwasher and range cooker. There is a spacious lounge with exposed stone walls and access to Le Figuier (1 bed gite) can be opened up if you wish to book both together. On the first floor is a double bedroom and 3 further bedrooms with super king beds which can be configured as twin beds upon request. All bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms. Sleeps up to 8 + a baby
This 3 bedroom gite has a small vine covered patio area with garden furniture & a charcoal BBQ. You enter into the open plan lounge, kitchen, diner with exposed stone walls and log burner. On the first floor is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a single bedroom as well as a bathroom with a shower. Sleeps up to 5 + a baby
This 3 bedroom gite has a small vine covered patio area with garden furniture & a charcoal BBQ. You enter into the open plan kitchen, lounge, diner with exposed stone walls and feature fire place which now contains a pellet burner to heat the gite in the winter. On the first floor are a double bedroom and two twin bedrooms as well as a bathroom with a shower. Please note that both twin rooms and the bathroom have low beams in. Sleeps up to 6 + a baby
This 2 bedroom gite has a small vine covered patio area with garden furniture & a charcoal BBQ. You enter into the open plan kitchen, lounge, diner with exposed stone walls and log burner. On the first floor are a double bedroom and a twin bedroom as well as a bathroom with a shower. Sleeps up to 4 + a baby
This 1 bed gite has an outside patio area with garden furniture and a charcoal BBQ as well as a private terrace with inflatable Jacuzzi, sun loungers and parasol (please note the spa and loungers are only set up and available May-September). Enter into the open plan lounge, kitchen, diner with exposed stone walls and log burner, a slim line dishwasher and a sofa bed (130cm) for an additional guest with a comfy mattress and topper. The bedroom contains a super king bed which can be configured as twin beds upon request and the bathroom is luxurious offering a freestanding bath as well as a large walk in shower (the bathroom can be accessed from both the bedroom and the lounge).
This gite is all on the ground floor so is suitable for the less mobile (though not specifically designed for a person with a disability or wheelchair user) and has the option of opening up access to Le Noyer (4 bedroom gite) for those who wish to book both together. Sleeps up to 3 + a baby.
